At Mixed Nature, we publish practical guidance on hair, skin, and makeup for people with mixed heritage and textured hair. This page explains who creates our content, how we research and review it, and the standards we hold ourselves to.
Who writes our content
Our articles are produced by the Mixed Nature editorial team, a group of writers and editors with lived experience of caring for mixed-heritage hair and skin. Content is guided by our lead editor, Florence Stewart. We write for real, everyday routines rather than trends, and we aim to represent hair and skin types that mainstream beauty media often overlooks.
How we research
We base our guidance on peer-reviewed research, guidance from recognized dermatology and cosmetic-science sources, ingredient documentation, and hands-on experience. Where a claim is contested or evidence is limited, we say so plainly rather than overstating what a product or routine can do.
Medical review
Articles that discuss skin conditions, such as hyperpigmentation, acne, or eczema, are reviewed by a qualified medical professional before publication and carry a medically-reviewed note. Our content is intended for general education only. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a licensed clinician. Cosmetics can help you care for and manage the appearance of skin, but they do not diagnose, cure, or permanently eliminate any medical condition. If you have a persistent or worsening concern, please see a dermatologist or your doctor.
How we review products
For product reviews, we consider formulation and ingredients, suitability for specific hair and skin types, ease of use, value for money, and real-world performance over time. We describe both strengths and drawbacks. A positive mention is never guaranteed in exchange for a product, payment, or partnership.
Corrections and updates
We update articles as guidance and products change, and we correct errors when we find them or when readers point them out. To suggest a correction, please contact us.
Advertising and affiliate relationships
Some articles contain affiliate links or feature brands we have a relationship with. These relationships never dictate our recommendations. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
